Downlight insulation contact?
Insulated Covered Downlights
We always see "IC rating" when we buy downlights, for example IC-4, IC-F. Do you know what "IC" means? IC is short for "insulation contact" and determines downlights will not take a risk of fire becaused of being covered with flammable material or with any covering that might interfere with their cooling system.
IC or IC-F?
IC and IC-4 mean that recessed lighting where fixed building insulation material (of downlight manufacturer's specifications) can abut and cover the recessed downlight.
CA90 and CA135 means a cooler running, closed abutted recessed downlight, where fixed insulating material(of the downlight manufactuer's specification) can be abutted to sides.
NON IC means a recessed downlight where building insulation material must not covered or come.
